Benefits Of Recycling Metals

Recycling is the act of processing used or abandoned materials and use them as raw materials for new products. It becomes a necessity today for all of us recycle the waste due to lack of availability of raw materials on earth. Studies show that the amount of waste generated by society seems to be much higher than the industry.

Millions of tons of Metal Recycling in the UK alone every year, generating billions of pounds of revenue. Just over half of the recycled metal is exported to meet foreign demand and the rest is processed in the UK to make the metal more. Metal is a material very useful and versatile that are used to make many items in everyday use including cars, trucks, boats, aircraft, household appliances, railroads, cutlery, ovens and of course also be used for packaging.

One major advantage in the metal recycling is that it can be recycled again and again without losing the properties of the metal itself. Therefore, precious metal commodities and thus, when the metal item reaches the end of his life, can be used 100% of the time to make new metal. The most common use of metal in every household today today Steel and Aluminum - Steel used to make food cans and aluminum used to make soft drink cans.

You can tell the difference between Steel and Aluminum using a magnet because Steel will stick to the magnet while aluminum will not. This makes the sorting of various types of metal at the recycling depot is much easier because opponents say plastic recycling where sorting is much more complex practice. When the metal recycling, it is divided into Ferrous metals and non-Ferrous.

Ferrous Metals Recycling
Ferrous scrap metal is a metal of Steel and Iron so this includes canned goods, scrap metal from cars and domestic appliances, etc. According to the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA), more than four and a half million tons of Iron and Steel scrap metal supplied to the steel plant in England in 2005 to create a new steel and more than 6 million tons exported. Scrap metal is iron and the growth of demand has increased about 5% per year in the last decade.

Non Ferrous Metals Recycling
Nonferrous scrap metal is a waste of metals such as Aluminum, (so including beverage cans, foil milk bottle top, wrapping foil, baking trays, kitchen foil, etc.) And also Copper, and other metals such as nickel, brass, titanium, etc. Lead and Chromium Waste non ferrous metals less available but it is more profitable than Ferrous Metals. According to the BMRA, in 2005, more than one million tonnes of non ferrous metals processed and nearly half of this was followed by Copper Aluminum and other metal later. More than 800,000 tons are exported representing an increase of 20% in 2004 figures.

The advantage of recycling the main use of recycling is nothing other than environmental protection.
As for the other benefits are as follows:
1. Much energy is stored during the recycling of metals, rather than to create new metals.
2. Water pollution does not occur and the water used is recycled for less metal than to make new metal.
3. Reduced CO2 emissions & there is less air pollution.
4. Reducing the need to mine the raw materials needed to make a metal such as iron ore for Steel, Nickel for Stainless Steel and Alumina and Bauxite to Aluminium.
5. Recycling seven steel cans saves enough energy to power a 60 watt light bulb for 26 hours
6. Reducing the amount of metal going to landfill that stores waste of valuable resources. Number of scrap iron and steel yourself, if not recycled, would fill more than 184 million cubic meters of landfill.

From now on let's keep our earth now and for future

  1. There was a ton of scrap metal left in our backyard from my son’s “mechanic business” after he moved, I wasn’t sure what to do with. My neighbor suggested selling it to Joliet-U-Pull-It. I was pleasantly surprised with the great price I was able to get for scrap I thought was just garbage. Check out their website if you’re thinking about selling any scrap metal you have laying around http://jolietupullit.com/
